Breton Mastiffs. |
We were fortunate enough to establish our Breton prefix on sound foundation stock. Our foundation bitch Kate is a testament to soundness and longevity only recently passing away at the grand old age of fourteen.

We endeavour to ensure enhancement of the breed on not only our last litter but to the breed in general. We have been very lucky with this beautiful breed. Most of our mastiffs represent us well, not only in the show ring but also in breed displays and at public functions. Our mastiffs have featured in many magazines, newspaper articles and on Burkes Back Yard. Our Mastiffs cost us an incredible amount of time, money, and heartache to produce. Because of this we are extremely careful when we place them in homes where we truly believe they will receive unconditional love and be totally appreciated.

We provide our puppy owners with extensive paperwork and documentation consisting of a detailed diet sheet, copies of generations of pedigrees, hip, elbow and eye testing that is relating specifically to their puppies ancestors. I try to provide a list of different veterinarians, Chiropractors, Dog Trainers and Obedience Clubs within a reasonable distance to the new home. We do ask that we are given first right of refusal to have the puppy returned to us if for, whatever reason, the puppies owner can no longer keep their mastiff. Mastiffs are not every ones ideal dog. After reading through the enclosed information, if you feel this is the breed for you. Please contact us.

Our History.
We categorise our litters by alphabetical order so we start with our A litter. This Aethel litter producing Royal Melbourne Reserve Breed & Specialty Show winning bitch, Ch Breton Aethel Brianna. The biggest turning point for our kennels came in 1995 Brianna was put to magnificent Ch Hunzeal Hi N Mity Hagan. He is the sire of our most successful litter to date. including Mikey the only mastiff to be awarded FOUR consecutive Mastiff of the Year Awards,as well as FOUR Best Exhibit In Specialty Shows. Mike was also awarded many group awards at open and championship show level, including Runner Up In Group at an All Breeds Championship Show.
Ch Breton Belgae Tallisman & Ch Breton Belgae Guinevere. |
Of the ten puppies born in the Belgae Litter Six went on to earn their Australian Champion Title before turning two years of age. Two of these are In-Group and In Show winning mastiffs. Between them four, have earned Royal Best Of Breed, Reserve Of Breed or Best Opposite Sex awards at Six Royal Shows. In December 1997 we mated Ch Breton Belgae Guinevere to her cousin Ch Hunzeal Imperial Isaac. Adelle gave us 3 puppies we named the Chriton litter. In 1998 we mated Ch Breton Belgae Tallisman to Ch Breton Belgae Heather. the litter of five produced beautiful male we campaign today, Champion Breton Dael Larceny (Bomber) who is also A Four time Royal Best Of Breed Winner.

Adelles daughter Breton Chriton Jubillee was mated to Kalcavalier The Deisal and produced seven puppies of her own. Two of these have already earned their Australian Champion titles and are Royal CC winning bitches. In October 2001 we were provided a wonderful opportunity by Dr R Menith and Mr D Shultze to breed to their US Import bitch Greco Melbourne Von Sydney. Put to Ch Breton Dael Larceny, they created our Feudal Litter, Of which three puppies have had very limited showing in the conformation ring. Two of our Exeter Bitches have progeny currently being shown bred by the kennels Mansutues and Triscol.
Kumormai Dragoness(imp) U.K. |
Earlier this year the U.K. bitch Kumormai Dragoness was imported to this country by Mr J Colebrook Of Mansutes Mastiffs. Nessie was bred by Mrs Elaine Knight and was brought over for the purpose of mating exclusively to Breton and Mansutues mastiffs.
The past year saw Bomber out of the ring for the most part of the year and myself studying for my Group 6 Judges examinations whilst campaigning Hunzeal Zollie to his Australian Champion title. He is a promising young apricot dog who was purchased by Mr. J Colebrook, from his breeder Mrs. A Caffyn for the express purpose of exporting to Mrs. E Knight. Zollie is a grandson Of Ch Breton Belgae Tallisman. He is currently living in Scotland with the remainder of Mrs Knights Kumormai and Klansman mastiffs and should be resuming his show carrer this year, this time in the UK..companionship and also maintain the conformation ring success of their ancestors.

The current year has begun with both Bomber Ch Breton Dael Larceny and Shiraz Ch Breton Exeter at Mansutes being campaigned here in Victoria. So far the year has been relatively successful with many show wins for our Breton Mastiffs including all the the Top Utility Dog Pointscore competitions we have attended to date. And Best of Breed and Reserve of Breed with Both Bomber and Shiraz ant this years Canberra Royal Show 2004. Currently Bomber is The Leading Utility Dog pointscore Top Dog, Shiraz is well within contention for the leading Utility Top Mastiff Bitch....Here's hoping we can maintain this throughout the coming year. We are planning to mate Shiraz again this year and are hoping for more success this time. Perhaps we may finally receive our long awaited G litters.

We have also imported our first and the first for this country "Pyrenean Mastiff" . He was Bred in Sweden By Mrs Edith Lien Of Molasia kennels. He is called Bretons Diano Av Mollosia.(IMP SWD). He is our first PM. We are thrilled with Dianos construction and temperament. We are feeling very privileged to be sent such a wonderful dog as foundation stock for this breed in this country. We hope that our daughter Lauren can begin campaining Diano in the beginging of 2005.
